Why we built Sane Host
A short story about the pain points that pushed us to build a calmer workflow for small short-term rental operators.
If you host one or two places, your “operation” is basically your brain.
That’s fine—until it isn’t.
At some point the same problems keep repeating:
- you’re juggling Airbnb + VRBO + personal plans
- you have one or more cleaners, maybe a co‑host
- you need to send schedules, access details, and reminders
- and the cost of a mistake isn’t theoretical (it’s a missed cleaning, an unhappy guest, a scramble on check‑in day)
The tools in the ecosystem tend to assume one of two extremes:
- you’re a single host doing everything manually, forever, and
- you’re a full property management company with a complex stack and staff.
We built Sane Host for the middle—small operators who want a simple system that:
- aggregates calendars (so you can stop “tab‑checking”)
- keeps the team aligned (so cleaners have the right schedule)
- surfaces what’s coming up (so you remember the important things on the right day)
- saves time on repetitive messages (so you’re not rewriting the same notes)
This blog will stay practical and specific: real hosting scenarios, what went wrong, and what we changed so it doesn’t happen again.
If you’ve ever said “I swear I sent that schedule…” you’re in the right place.
Want fewer “oops” moments as a host?
Sane Host helps you aggregate calendars, share cleaning schedules, and stay ahead of check-ins/check-outs.
